Italian punk rock veterans Retarded return with “Fight For Your Rights,” a new single out April 17, 2026 via Ammonia Records, continuing a partnership that has been part of their story for years.
Formed in Voghera in 1998, the band have long been a staple of the Italian Ramonescore scene. Fast songs, simple structures, and hooks that land quickly have always been their identity, and this track stays firmly in that lane.
“Fight For Your Rights” does not try to update or expand the formula. It sticks to it. The guitars are tight and direct, the rhythm section keeps everything moving at a steady pace, and the vocals carry that familiar rough melodic tone. It’s short, punchy, and built to hit without delay.
The message is as clear as the title. Straightforward, unapologetic, and delivered without dressing it up. The band lean into a classic punk approach where the point is made quickly and left to stand on its own.
What stands out is how natural it still feels. After more than two decades, Retarded are not adjusting their sound to fit anything. They are playing exactly what they’ve always played, with the same clarity and intent.
Released through Ammonia Records, a label closely tied to the Italian punk underground, the single fits perfectly within that DIY lineage.
“Fight For Your Rights” does exactly what it should. Fast, direct, and rooted in the basics that made this band last as long as they have.
