Barking Poets – “Change Our Ways”

London’s Barking Poets return with “Change Our Ways,” a powerful new single released July 4 via Engineer Records. Equal parts defiant and reflective, the track is rooted in the experience of lockdown—written by drummer Conor Heary as both a celebration of the bands that kept going and a sobering look at what it all cost.

Musically, it’s a melodic punk anthem built for big singalongs: sharp guitars, driving rhythm, and an emotional punch that doesn’t let up. The sound calls to mind classic influences like The Clash and The Jam, blended with modern grit in the vein of The Gaslight Anthem.

The single arrives with a music video filmed in Blackpool, starring the “Pooch Pistols”—a team of Newfoundland rescue dogs. It’s more than just a fun concept: the band partnered with Blackpool Working Newfoundlands, with all proceeds from the single supporting the charity. It’s community punk in action.

Since forming in 2019, Barking Poets have used their voice to speak out on climate change, austerity, and working-class struggle. “Change Our Ways” keeps that fire burning—smart, heartfelt, and built to be played loud.

Catch them live this July across the UK, including a hometown show in London on July 10.
