Cocoa Beach’s Dunies return with Take Off and Die, a lo-fi garage punk EP that crashes in at six tracks and leaves just as fast. Rooted in Florida’s surf-soaked Space Coast, the band has been kicking up fuzz and noise since 2016, and this latest release is their most focused burst of raw punk energy yet.
Out since July 22, Take Off and Die sounds exactly how a band called Dunies should—sunburned, noisy, and totally unfiltered. Tracks like “Don’t Wanna Go” and “Balls” spit out snotty hooks over distorted riffs, while the title track taps into a bratty, nihilistic charm that never overstays its welcome. It’s sweaty, loud, and perfectly rough around the edges.
Recorded and released independently, the EP marks a step forward in clarity without losing the chaotic spirit that defines their sound. The band celebrated the release with a show at Johnathan’s Pub and is currently gigging around Florida, pushing their blown-out sound from Cocoa Beach to Tampa.
If you’re into punk that’s noisy, lo-fi, and made for dive bars and beach bonfires, Take Off and Die is your new summer soundtrack.
