Thrice are back with Gnash, the crushing lead single from their upcoming album Horizons/West, due October 3 via Epitaph Records. Serving as a direct sequel to 2021’s Horizons/East, this new chapter signals a darker, heavier turn—both sonically and thematically.
Gnash is a punishing track: built on sludgy, off-kilter riffs, industrial-tinged rhythms, and Dustin Kensrue’s searing vocals, it’s some of the most aggressive material the band has released in years. With its sharp dynamics and explosive intensity, the track immediately sets Horizons/West apart. As Revolver put it, this is “the heaviest new song in years.”
While Horizons/East leaned into atmosphere and introspection, Horizons/West looks outward—confronting digital echo chambers, fractured identities, and existential unrest. Produced by the band at New Grass Studio and mixed by Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City), the album promises a more expansive and urgent sound, rooted in the same thoughtful craftsmanship that’s defined Thrice since their early days.
If Gnash is the opening shot, then Horizons/West looks to be a record of serious weight—both musically and thematically.
