Tokyo’s melodic punk outfit What Goes Up return with Things Left Unsaid, a sharp and emotionally grounded four-track EP, out now via Waterslide Records in Japan and Brassneck Records in the UK.
Following their 2023 full-length Laws of Gravity, this new release finds the band pushing further into introspection without losing their punch. The EP blends driving guitars and tight rhythms with more emotionally layered songwriting, creating a sound that’s urgent but thoughtful—melodic punk with depth.
Tracks like “Balancing Act” and “Frankenstein’s Monster Was a Melocore Kid” capture the tension between vulnerability and energy, pairing raw hooks with lyrics that cut a little deeper. It’s clear the band is evolving, stepping confidently into more personal territory while staying rooted in the fast, melodic delivery they’re known for.
Pressed on limited yellow vinyl and available internationally, Things Left Unsaid is a strong step forward for What Goes Up—and a standout in Japan’s growing punk scene.
