Rome- and Amsterdam-based melodic punk project Minus Hero returns with Ruyi, a new four-track EP released June 20, 2025. Drawing from punk, emo, and shoegaze influences, the release finds Minus Hero honing their sound balancing raw energy with reflective, melody-driven songwriting.
Formed in Rome in 2019, Minus Hero evolved into a cross-border collaboration, bridging scenes between Italy and the Netherlands. Ruyi builds on the momentum of their 2023 release From Down to Dawn, delivering a tighter, more focused sound. Tracks like “Burrito” and the title track layer distortion with emotive vocals and a strong sense of atmosphere, giving the EP a cohesive and immersive feel.
With Ruyi, Minus Hero further defines their place in Europe’s underground punk landscape introspective, urgent, and unmistakably melodic.
