The Hives – Paint a Picture

Sweden veterans The Hives have released their latest single, “Paint a Picture,” ahead of their forthcoming album, The Hives Forever Forever the Hives, set for release on August 29, 2025 via Play It Again Sam.

“Paint a Picture” is the second single from the album, following April’s “Enough Is Enough.” The new track blends garage rock grit with explosive, anthem-ready energy, marked by fuzzed-out guitar riffs and dynamic shifts. Long performed live but never officially released until now, the song has already established itself as a fan favorite.

The track is accompanied by a vibrant music video co-directed by Filip Nilsson and Henry Moore Selder, visually inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s pop-art aesthetic. According to the band, the song explores themes of detachment and autonomy:

“A song about trying to convince people and yourself that living outside of society is a good idea.”

The forthcoming album, produced by longtime collaborator Pelle Gunnerfeldt, features contributions from Mike D (Beastie Boys) and Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), and promises a bold return to form for the band.

In support of the release, The Hives will embark on an extensive international tour beginning in July, with stops across Australia, North America, Europe, and the UK.
