Cell Rot – Cannibals

California hardcore band Cell Rot have announced their upcoming full-length album, Parasite, due out July 18, 2025 via Convulse Records. The announcement arrives alongside the release of the lead single, “Cannibals,” a raw and punishing track that captures the band’s relentless energy and bleak sonic vision.

Based in the Bay Area, Cell Rot delivers a hybrid of hardcore, noise rock, and post-hardcore, marked by grinding guitar work, aggressive rhythms, and an uncompromising DIY aesthetic. “Cannibals” exemplifies this formula—distorted, urgent, and thematically charged. Recorded and mixed under the band’s own production arm, Rubber Lizard Records, the track preserves the immediacy and abrasion of their live sound.

Parasite will feature seven tracks, including previously released material, and will be available on vinyl with several limited edition pressings. Thematically, the album confronts cycles of societal and internal decay, using visceral metaphor and sonic dissonance to explore the erosion of personal and collective stability.

Following their 2021 EP Slowly Falls Apart and 2024’s “Shadow People/Cosmic Vertigo,” this new release affirms Cell Rot’s position as one of the more uncompromising voices in California’s underground heavy music scene
