On June 7, 2025, the city of Fontana, California, officially honored hometown hero Travis Barker with “Travis Barker Day,” presenting him with the key to the city and naming a street after him. The celebration recognized Barker’s global impact on music and his lasting connection to the community where his journey began.
Born in Fontana in 1975, Barker started drumming as a child, playing in local bands before rising to fame as the powerhouse drummer for Blink‑182. Over the years, he has built a career that spans genres—collaborating with countless artists and remaining one of the most respected drummers in the world.
In addition to his music, Barker is a vocal advocate for health and wellness, launching the Run Travis Run campaign to inspire mindfulness and fitness. His survival of a devastating plane crash in 2008 and his openness about that experience have also made him a source of strength for many.
At Miller Park Amphitheater, Mayor Acquanetta Warren and city officials honored Barker with the key to the city and announced that a Fontana street will now bear his name.
“I want to thank Fontana,” Barker said at the event. “Thank you for shaping me. Thank you for honoring me. I’ll be giving back every chance I get.”
To celebrate, here’s Goldfinger’s “Put the Knife Away” — Barker played drums on the entire The Knife album. 🔥
