There’s something refreshing about how 504 Plan approach punk. Nothing feels overthought, nothing feels padded, and I.E.P. captures that mindset perfectly. Coming out of Washington, D.C.’s DIY scene, the band have been steadily building momentum, and this EP feels like a snapshot of who they are right now: loud, restless, and very much alive.
I.E.P. is short, sharp, and direct. Four tracks, no wasted seconds. The songs hit fast with hardcore urgency, but there’s melody tucked inside the chaos, the kind that keeps the riffs from blurring together and gives each track its own identity. You can hear a band that values energy first, but still cares about how a song sticks once the noise settles.
The title itself feels intentionally loaded. Structures, systems, labels, expectations — all things punk has always pushed against. 504 Plan take that idea and twist it into something personal and immediate. These songs feel like reactions rather than statements, driven by frustration, pressure, and the need to get something out before it eats you alive.
What really stands out is how natural the EP feels. It doesn’t sound like a band trying to prove anything. It sounds like a band playing because they have to. The performances are tight but never stiff, aggressive but never hollow. There’s a real sense of motion here, like these tracks were written to be played live, sweated through, and screamed back by people standing way too close to the stage.
I.E.P. may be brief, but it does exactly what a good EP should do. It leaves you wanting more, curious about what comes next, and confident that 504 Plan are a band worth keeping an eye on. Short runtime, heavy impact, no excuses.
